In 1977 I was trained at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City, and created
their Outreach Program in New Jersey, making home sessions available
to those people unable to travel for treatment. In 1983, I was founder
and coordinator of Phobia Associates, Inc., a phobia treatment program
that emphasized practical "in-vivo" methods for the reduction
of anxiety.
For the past 25 Years I have been assisting people with phobias, both
in an individual and group setting. My work frequently takes me to
peoples' homes as well as bridges, elevators, restaurants, malls, and
highway driving.
My approach is always kind and patient, focusing not on what
you can't do, but on what you can do, and expanding on those possibilities.
I help people to understand that although they "feel crazy" actually
what is happening is that their negative images are stimulating their
bodies to react and those sensations are misinterpreted. My goal is
to teach the phobic/anxious person how to change the habit of scaring
themselves and to move on to a life free of avoidances.
Media Exposure includes: The Daily News, The Bergen Record, Ladies' Home Journal, CBS
TV News, Midday Live, Toast of the Town.
I am a Charter Member of The Phobia Society of America, now the Anxiety
Disorders Association of America.
I am co-author with Phobia Associates, Inc. of The Phobia Workbook.
I have attended weekend seminars and participated in workshops given
by Dr. Isaac Marks, Dr. Claire Weekes, Dr. Arthur Hardy, Dr. Robert
DuPont, Dr. Donald Klein, Dr. Martin Seif, and Dr. Manuel Zane. |
