The First Anxiety Recovery Coaches

This week, someone wrote to me looking for help.

She wasn't asking about FARC. She wasn't asking about certification. She just needed a coach who understood anxiety the way I talk about it, someone who could hold her differently than the last five people had.

I wrote back. Thanked her for reaching out. Told her I understood.

And then I did something I couldn't have done a year ago. I sent her a list.

Five names. Five practitioners, trained through the same lens, each carrying it into the world in their own way. It felt so good to be able to do that. To not just offer comfort, but to point to real people, already doing the work.

That list is the reason this post exists.

Those five names are the founding FARC cohort. Five people who showed up to a Zoom call last spring, didn't know each other, came from different backgrounds and different gifts, and by summer had gone further, becoming the founding class of Certified Anxiety Recovery Coaches™.

I look at them now and realize: these five are the beginning of something. Not simply a new certification. A movement.

We are changing the field.

When I created the Quantum Mental Health Institute, I wasn't interested in adding another set of anxiety-management tools to an already crowded field.

We have plenty of tools.

What we need is a different lens.

For decades, we've largely approached anxiety from the top down: thoughts, behaviors, coping skills, diagnoses, medications and symptom-management strategies.

Some of those things can be incredibly useful.

But they aren't the whole human being.

A person experiencing chronic anxiety is also an electrical, biological, relational being whose brain, nervous system and cells are responding every moment to light, darkness, food, water, movement, safety, emotion, connection, trauma, environment, circadian timing and energy availability.

What happens when practitioners learn to see and embody all of that?

What happens when anxiety stops being viewed simply as something to suppress, manage or overcome, and begins to be understood as information?

That is the field we are changing.

And yes, I mean both fields.

The professional field of mental health.

And the quantum field, the environment where healing actually happens.

When a practitioner understands their own circadian rhythms, steps fully into their own strengths, and tends to their own mitochondrial health, something shifts in the room before a single word gets exchanged. Regulated nervous systems recognize other regulated nervous systems. Calm is contagious. Trust is contagious.

So when we train practitioners this way, we're changing how anxiety is treated. We still use the tools that help, but we widen the lens: anxiety becomes a signal to listen to rather than a symptom to manage, and the practitioner embodies the recovery and wellbeing they're guiding clients toward. That's how we add more peace, more calm, and more trust into the world. One practitioner, one client, one vibration at a time.

But there's another shift happening inside FARC.

When practitioners first arrive, many of them are carrying a kind of anxiety of their own.

Am I doing this right?

What do I do when this client isn't getting better?

Which protocol should I use?

Do I actually know enough to help someone?

So they reach for more information. Another training. Another protocol. Another list of interventions.

And sometimes all that knowledge takes them farther away from the thing their client needs most: them. Their presence. Their ability to listen. Their capacity to stay grounded when someone else is dysregulated.

One of the most beautiful things I watch happen inside FARC is that the practitioner's imposter syndrome begins to melt. Not because I've handed them the perfect protocol. Because they begin to understand: you are the instrument.

Presence over protocols.

Training matters. Ethics matter. Scope matters. Understanding biology matters.

But information without embodiment only takes us so far.

FARC gives practitioners a framework for understanding anxiety differently, then asks them to discover who they are inside that framework. What are your gifts? What do you notice that other people miss? What happens in the room when you stop trying to fix the person in front of you?

Maybe what you've been calling resistance isn't resistance at all. Maybe the nervous system is communicating. Maybe the client needs safety. Maybe they need energy. Maybe they need someone who can stay present long enough to get curious about what their system is actually saying. Maybe it's a rupture in the relationship that needs repairing.

This changes the practitioner. And when the practitioner changes, the practice changes.

Meet the five.

Courtney Gordon — M.S. Performance Pschology & Quantum Health Coach

Five different people. Five different sets of gifts. Five different ways this work moves into the world. That's the point. FARC doesn't ask you to abandon what you already know or become someone else. It gives you a new lens, then helps you recognize the gifts you already bring.

This is how a field changes.

Not because one person develops another method. A field changes when enough practitioners begin asking different questions.

What if anxiety isn't the enemy? What if the symptoms are communication? What if we considered electricity before chemistry, environment before pathology, presence before protocols?

I want Anxiety Recovery Coaches in counseling offices, wellness practices, birth spaces, schools, health clinics, coaching practices and communities. I want people struggling with anxiety to encounter someone who sees the whole electric person, not a collection of symptoms.

If you're looking for support

Reach out to any of the five coaches above. That's exactly what this list is for.

If you're a practitioner

Maybe you're a coach, therapist, nutrition professional, bodyworker, doula or wellness professional who knows there's something missing from the conventional anxiety conversation. Maybe you've collected protocols but still don't fully trust yourself when someone sits across from you suffering.

There is a place for you in this movement.

The fall FARC cohort begins October 11. Twelve seats. Several are already filled.

Not twelve people I'm going to teach to practice exactly like me. Twelve practitioners whose own gifts I cannot wait to uncover.
